Holiday Special Series 2025

This year’s series features rubber duckies, mostly Holiday themed, with one delightful outlier. Each painting is a 6x6” oil on cradled panel, created alla prima, a wet-on-wet technique that’s the complete opposite of the layered approach I use with my trompe l’oeil work.

Why rubber ducks?

I had so many ideas for a Holiday Series that choosing one was difficult. But when I started seeing Holiday themed rubber ducks popping up in stores, I was really tickled to go with it. Last year’s Hershey Kiss series was born the same way. I’m a sucker for collectible items, and if my husband didn’t keep me in check, the house would be filled with “clutter”.

Rubber ducks are highly collectible with countless variations. I love seeing the little Jeep ducks when I pass by one. They carry a sense of nostalgia for adults. This classic bath toy has become both an icon and a symbol of childhood.
